Welcome

The Piedmont Lace Guild of Virginia was established in 2006 to promote and preserve the knowledge and appreciation of the fine art of lacemaking.

The Guild is centered in Fauquier County and aims to serve lacemakers in the area south and west of the nation's capital and the Northern Virginia counties.  While most of us make bobbin lace or tatted lace, we all enjoy exploring and learning about lace in all its forms.  We welcome anyone with a sincere interest in lacemaking, its history and its future.  We hope you decide to join us.

Members of the Guild are available for demonstrations.  To enquire about scheduling and availability, please e-mail info@piedmontlace.org.

Thank you for visiting the Guild website. Please check back often for updates.

NEWS MAY 2008

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth at the Warrenton Spring Festival, Saturday 17 May.  June and I enjoyed meeting all of you!

Please send us an e-mail if you are interested in taking our beginning bobbin lace or tatting class in the fall.  Depending on interest, we will have an all adult class and a young lacemakers group for ages 11-17.  Keep an eye on the website for more details through the summer.
We look forward to seeing you again and hope to welcome you as the newest members of our Guild.

NEWS FEBRUARY 2008

Members of the Piedmont Lace Guild of Virginia demonstrated bobbin lace-making and discussed lacemaking and the history of lace and costume with a group of library patrons at the Bull Run Library in Manassas, Virginia on Saturday, 2 February 2008. In appreciation of the library hosting the exhibit and the demonstration, the Guild presented the Bull Run Library with a copy of the book The Laces of Ipswich by Marta Cotterell Raffell for its collection.  Prior to the demonstration, the Bull Run library exhibited lace items made or owned by members of the Piedmont Lace Guild of Virginia throughout the month of January.

Below you can see a few photos from the exhibit at the Bull Run Library.
